Global software major Microsoft’s venture arm, Microsoft Ventures has said that it will organise workshops on meaningful exits for Indian software product entrepreneurs looking to sell their business ventures to other companies. As part of its Think Next initiative and in association with iSpirit Foundation, the workshops will aim to prepare Indian entrepreneurs for M&A, focusing on due diligence, valuation and presenting on their behalf to potential acquirers.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Microsoft Ventures announced that the initiatives are aimed at resolving the key issues behind the lack of meaningful exits in India’s software product industry, which is a major cause of concern among India’s product start-ups.
Looking at the mandates and priorities of corporate development teams in large organisations, Microsoft Ventures and with iSpirit will work closely with VCs and entrepreneurs to help facilitate exits through acquisitions.
Ravi Narayan, Director, Microsoft Ventures India, said, “With Think Next, we look to foster talks and open serious discussions on how key players in the start-up ecosystem can contribute to its growth. The lack of meaningful M&A’s has been a major deterrent to the growth of software product start-ups in India.”
Microsoft Ventures, in May 2014 launched , Think Next, a forum to sharpen conversations in the start-up ecosystem by providing a platform for all stakeholders to network, deliberate and take measurable steps to resolve some key issues.
