The state capital of Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow will be hosting a mega conclave for MSMEs called ‘Uttar Pradesh Udyami Mahasammelan 2013’ in order to boost their growth.
Chief Minister, Akhilesh Yadav would be inaugurating the conclave on May 22 which is likely to attract more than 1,000 small businesses from the state.
The MSMEs in UP play a key role in the state’s development and hence the government has of late taken different policy initiatives in various sectors which affects the growth of SME sector.
Some of the key areas of discussion at the event would be programmes and policies of the department of MSME & Export Promotion, implementation of industrial policies, development of industrial infrastructure, ease of doing business, provisions of 12th Five Year Plan, program & schemes of union ministry of MSME, NSIC schemes, public procurement policy of UP and central government etc.
The state houses around 3.1 million MSME units and contributes about 50 per cent of the Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) of UP.
Also, the sector has engaged around 1/4th of the UP population i.e. around 40 million which makes it an important contributor to the socio-economic development of the state.
Indian Industries Association (IIA) will be organising the event along with UP Department of MSME & Export Promotion.
