The bilateral ties between India and China are set to get an impetus with the Government of India deciding to set up an Economic wing at the embassy of India in Beijing.
The economic wing will enable the Indian exporters, in the SME segment, to promote their product basket in China. It will facilitate opportunities for joint ventures and technical collaborations between India and Chinese businesses and identify the area of potential co-operation in diverse areas.
The growing services and knowledge trade between the two countries will yield beneficial results for SME units in the two countries in the fields of bio-technology, ITs/ITeS, health , education, tourism and finance. If the SMEs from both these countries step up trade, the projected figure of USD 60 billion from two-way trade between India and China in 2010-11, can be achieved.
