IACC to lead second business delegation to US to focus on business opportunities, tie-ups

Continuing the rapid tempo of activity in bilateral commercial exchanges between US and Indian businesses, Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (IACC) announced it will lead another delegation to the US to meet with the business, civic and political leadership in the powerhouse cities of Atlanta, Dallas and Houston.

IACC is the Apex bilateral Chamber of Commerce in India, which is committed to Indo-US business and trade relations. As a bilateral chamber IACC’s first and foremost objective is to facilitate and foster interaction between businesses of India and USA.

Keeping this view, IACC is organizing a business delegation from July 5-12 at Atlanta, Dallas and Houston. IACC-India shares an extraordinary relationship with IACC-Greater Houston for the last 10 years and a partnership MOU has been signed between the two organizations.

Both the Chambers have been working very closely to promote Indo-US Trade relations by organizing and developing various programs together. Recently IACC-India hosted 2 delegations from Greater Houston on Ports and Infrastructure and the other one led by the Mayor of Greater Houston covering delegates from major industry sectors.

Both the delegations visits were successful and resulted in creating business interests for the participants. This delegation will act as another major step towards further enhancing the business opportunity and building a stronger bond between the Business Groups in India and greater Houston.

The delegation will have networking meetings with GIACC leadership team, Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce members, State of Georgia Economic Development team and Indian consulate, one-on-one meetings with Georgia Economic Development, industry interactions with Mayor of Houston, IACC Greater Houston and business meetings with local companies with bilateral  business  interests.

The main purpose of this year’s delegation will be to create business opportunities for India and US companies and establish effective partnerships. A good deal of preparatory work is underway to make the visit successful and result- oriented. The delegation will focus on potential areas of mutual interest as well as facilitate matchmaking sessions between Indian and American companies.

The  week long engagement is aimed at enhancing bilateral opportunities and connectivity for businesses involved in key areas such as Gems & Jewelry, Bio-Technology & Life Sciences, Textiles,  Infrastructure & Logistics, Education & Skill Development, Life Sciences & Healthcare, IT & Telecommunications, Energy, Infrastructure & Logistics. There will be participation from senior representatives from companies like InterraIT, Tech-Mahindra, Reliance, IMC Limited, Rewas Ports, Ramada Hotels to name a few.

Starting with an economic summit last October, IACC unveiled a pro-active program of engagement that included a number of confabulations in its target areas of bilateral trade including IT and Cyber Security, Aviation, Hospitality, Entertainment, Accounting, Law and Services.

In March this year, IACC took another major step by taking a delegation to the high-profile Select USA Investment Summit in Washington DC. Select USA is a major international investment promotion program established in 2011 by US President Barack Obama. The IACC delegation to the summit provided an opportunity for members to interact with business leaders, officials and executives from economic and commercial development agencies from various states and also blue-chip global advisory groups and consultants.

“IACC made a public commitment at its summit last October that we will be a force in the enhancement of commercial ties between the US and India with a focus on small and medium businesses in both countries. Participating in such exchanges enables our members to meet the business, civic and political leadership in major US cities and that is a key first step in forging strong business alliances on both sides,” said Asoke K Laha, IACC president who will personally lead the delegation.
