The Gujarat government will give special status to sector-specific Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) clusters to be set up near urban centres and label them "Special Parks," state Industries Minister Saurabh Patel said on Thursday. He was addressing a convention on MSME on the theme of "Fuelling Global Growth" at Mahatma Mandir. He said the government will keep the infrastructure cost to the lowest possible to ensure faster growth.
Patel said 1,000 hectares will be reserved for MSME at the Special Investment Region (SIR) of Dholera and that associations should come forward for clusters near urban centres.
Rajender Mohan Malla, Chairman, Industrial Development Bank of India (IDBI), said the recommendations by a special task force on MSME should ease the problems facing the sectors if they are accepted by the Centre. IDBI will finance MSME up to Rs 1 crore without any collateral, provided they are found viable, he said. Malla said the young and promising entrepreneurs will have to be nurtured because they will lead India Inc by 2020.
