A lot of government and multilateral organizations have decided to come together to help Indian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) adopt environment standards and become energy efficient. It aims to create awareness of green economy among these enterprises.
Bureau of Energy Efficiency along with the European union will be backing the initiative and organizations such as UNIDO, SIDBI, Foundation for MSME Clusters, Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs etc. will implement it. The time frame set for this is next three and half years.
Reducing carbon emission by approximately 70,000 tonnes in 500 micro and small foundries in the states of Punjab, Rajasthan and West Bengal has been set as one of the pilot projects of the programme.
Many areas of cooperation have been announced by Ajay Mathur, Director -General, Bureau of Energy Efficiency in this project funded by EU.
