Flipkart has announced the promotion of its SVP- Marketplace, Ankit Nagori to Chief Business Officer to increase the focus on marketplace initiatives.
In this new role, Ankit will be responsible for driving key initiatives and overseeing the growth of the Flipkart seller ecosystem. He will continue to lead seller and categories selection, to help expand offerings, and enable sales and promotions on the platform.
“Ankit’s contributions and role in shaping the Flipkart marketplace has been remarkable. He was instrumental in leading the growth of Flipkart’s marketplace to 30000 plus sellers today. His vision and strategic approach has brought many innovations to the table and has helped make Flipkart the most preferred platform for consumers and sellers in India,” said the company’s official release.
Ankit (29) joined Flipkart in 2010 and was responsible for expanding the books category in the early days. He then moved on to become head of categories, where he built up Flipkart’s presence across categories like consumer electronics and lifestyle. In this last role as SVP- Marketplace, he drove various initiatives with government bodies like FISME, DGET, Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Textile, and local weavers associations etc., to enable SMEs on the platform.
The release also said “Ankit’s growth in the organization is an ideal example of the meritocratic culture and opportunities for employees to grow internally at Flipkart.
