Flipkart join hands with EPCH, VTPC and KASSIA to help small entrepreneurs

India’s largest e-commerce marketplace, Flipkart has joined hands with Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH), Visvesvaraya Trade Promotion Centre (VTPC) and Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association (KASSIA) to organise a workshop on ‘How to grow your business online’ with the small seller community in Bangalore.

Aimed to empower sellers and entrepreneurs from the region, this workshop covered the on-boarding processes, return policies and serviceability and commission structure for sellers. This interactive workshop saw active participation from over 120 sellers from diverse categories like handicrafts, home décor, home furnishing, kitchen, footwear, fashion jewelry, electronics and mobile.

Ankit Nagori, SVP (Marketplace), Flipkart said, “Karnataka is home to a large number of local entrepreneurs. We see a lot of potential for the sellers in this region and our aim is to empower them to explore the marketplace model and grow their customer base. With sessions like these, we want to introduce sellers to this (online) platform and its benefits.”

Nagori further added, “Today, over thousands of sellers are selling products across various categories to our 26 million registered users. With access to the largest customer base in the country, we will enable local entrepreneurs to reach out to a wider range of customers nationally.”

Sri Rakesh Kumar, Executive Director, EPCH said, “We are happy to associate with Flipkart for an initiative that will help our local artisans or entrepreneurs grow their businesses. We are confident that sellers across categories will benefit from a session like this.”

With an aim to enable artisans and entrepreneurs grow; Flipkart has tied up with Federation of Indian Micro and Small & Medium Enterprises (FISME) and National Centre for Design & Product Development (NCDPD) to boost manufacturing in India.
Earleir this year, Flipkart also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Director General – Employment & Training (DGET), National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India, to help Indian MSMEs leverage the online marketplace platform to scale their business.
