The discussions on the implementation of the MSME task force recommendations at the state level will be held on Tuesday, under the chairmanship of minister of state for MSME Dinsha patel. The state ministers and secretaries (Industries/MSME) will be present in the discussions. T.K. A. Nair, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, V. Krishnamurthy, Chairman, National Manufacturing Competitiveness Council and Shri Arun Maira, Member (Industry), Planning Commission are the people who will grace the meeting with their inputs.
As stated in an official press release, the meeting will emphasise on discussing the modalities of implementation of the state related recommendations of the task force on MSMEs. The number of schemes that has recently been introduced by the MSME ministry under the National Manufacturing Competitiveness Programme for enhancing the competitiveness and productivity of MSMEs will be discussed in the meeting.
The existing schemes that were modified to attract the stakeholders with the functioning of MSE-Facilitation Councils set up in the States, too, form part of the discussion. The requirement for quick resolution of matters relating to delayed payments under the MSMED act 2006 to MSE suppliers was what prompted the setting up of the Facilitation Councils.
In an attempt to give an impetus to the growth of the sector, the task force of the MSME sector submitted it’s report in January and made various recommendations in the areas of credit, taxation, labour issues, infrastructure/technology/skill development, marketing, etc,.
The requirement for a speedy implementation of the recommendation of the task force led to the formation of a group under the Chairmanship of the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister.
