The two industry bodies IESA and MAIT have announced partnership with Hannover Milano Fairs India, the organiser of CeBIT India.
In a bid to expand electronic manufacturing in country, the Indian Electronics and Semiconductors Association (IESA) and IT Manufacturers Association (MAIT) have joined hands to promote local electronics manufacturing at the upcoming global business IT Trade fair CeBIT 2014. The event is slated for November this year at Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC).
As part of this initiative, the two industry bodies IESA and MAIT have announced partnership with Hannover Milano Fairs India, the organiser of CeBIT India.
Both trade bodies have signed memorandum of understanding (MoU) with CeBIT to host two pavilions for its members at the upcoming event. Some 60-80 member companies from IESA and MAIT are expected to exhibit their products and innovation during the three day long CeBIT India event.
According to M N Vidyashankar, President-IESA, the MoU will open up vast vistas of opportunities in collaboration between global and local players in the ESDM space and it is expected to enhance B2B transactions in a variety of verticals to the best advantage of all stakeholders and strengthen the ESDM ecosystem in the state.
“IESA is focused on the implementation of National Policy on Electronics at ground level and believes that CeBIT's entry to the Indian by Browser Shop\">market will be a significant stepping stone for Indian ESDM (electronic systems design and manufacturing) industry in global markets,” said Vidyashankar.
According to Government of India estimates, the opportunities in the electronics hardware manufacturing space are expected to touch Rs 400 billion by 2020. In the development of electronic manufacturing ecosystem in India, the small and medium enterprises (SMEs) have a major role to play.
“SMEs are an important constituent of the ESDM ecosystem. MAIT understands the policy focus and thrust that the SME sector needs to capture robust economic growth,” said Anwar Shirpurwala, Executive Director, MAIT.
“MAIT intends for SMEs to flourish in a organized way, utilizing the latest hardware and networking technologies, which spruce innovation helping them move beyond the cost and event of the stature of CeBIT helps SMEs build clusters of competencies and gives fillip to their capabilities,” added Shirpurwala.
