Amira group intends to cultivate 12,000 hectares of land for multiple organic crops.
Amira group has said that it will empower 7,500 farmer families with technical guidance, marketing linkage and access to the organic and sustainable and sustainable methods of farming, including quality seeds and bio-inputs, according to a PTI report.
With the help of these farmers, the company intends to cultivate 12,000 hectares of land for multiple organic crops. The company also launched number of organic products including organic rice, lentils & beans, flour, spices, oil and ghee.
"With this launch we have further expanded our range of offerings in India. Organic products category has seen a tremendous growth in the last couple of years and Indian consumers are becoming more conscious about their health as well as the environment," Amira Nature Foods Ltd Chairman and CEO Karan Chanana told PTI.
Amira group is one of the largest exporters of Basmati rice from India and it is listed at New York Stock Exchange as Amira Nature Foods Ltd.
Amira sells Basmati rice, its flagship Amira brand as well as under other third party brands. In India, the company sells through various retail and wholesale chains including Wal-Mart Best Price, Metro Cash & Carry, Reliance Cash & Carry and Reliance Fresh.
