Alibaba.com, the world's leading small business e-commerce company, has increased its focus on Gujarat, a state renowned for its entrepreneurial ventures. As a first step, Alibaba.com will partner with Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) to organise the ‘Breaking the Barriers and Stimulating Growth’ seminar and workshops to increase awareness about the market potential of technical textiles products, both in the domestic and global markets. The event will be held in Surat on February 15 and 16, 2012 in Surat. Alibaba.com will also educate participants on how to leverage the power of the Internet to reach out to effectively tap into international buyers.
With more than 2.4 million of small- and medium-sized Indian businesses already using Alibaba.com’s online marketplace to find international markets for their product, Gujarat is one of the key markets in India. The state of Gujarat houses more than 4 lakh small businesses which are diversified across industries forming its backbone. The technical textiles industry is one such industry that is growing at a rapid pace thanks to sustained growth in various services and manufacturing sectors.
On the eve of this event, Nayan Thakkar, Manager, Sales and Customer Service said, “Alibaba.com has always been committed to helping SMEs find international markets for their products and stay competitive through the internet. Alibaba.com’s partnership with FICCI for this event is instrumental in reaching the right target audience to educate them about the power of e-commerce. We look forward to collaborating with FICCI in the future to jointly educate small businesses in the state to be globally competitive and grow their businesses beyond our domestic shores.”
