The National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM) on Friday unveiled the foundation stone of Nasscom’s Noida headquarters at the hands of Akhilesh Yadav, Chief Minister, Uttar Pradesh. KK Natarajan, Chairman, Nasscom and Som Mittal, President, Nasscom along with other industry leaders and government representatives were present at the occasion.
Welcoming the Nasscom’s step to set up Noida headquarters, Akhilesh Yadav said, “The government will strive to make Uttar Pradesh more visible on the IT map in India. A lot of work is being done in IT in Noida, and our government will try to take this development to other parts of the state.
“In four cities, we will create an infrastructure to support law and order by installing CCTVs and GPS system so that the police become more efficient. We are also working to tackle the problem of power,” added Yadav reflecting on the current problems in the state.
The association has devised plans to setup its warehouse facility in Noida as part of the 10,000 Start-ups initiative to scale up the startup ecosystem in India. The Startup Warehouse has been introduced to create a micro-ecosystem where startups and entrepreneurs can work together, share their learning’s and best practices with each other, said a release issued by Nasscom.
“It is a very large complex where there will be an incubation centre, cyber labs, spaces for companies to hold their events,” said Mittal.
Nasscom also plans other such facilities across key cities in the country, to provide world class infrastructure to tech startups at a highly affordable cost.
"We have only 7 cities which constitutes 90 per cent of the IT world. So we have to develop tier-II cities for two reasons. One, we have to de-congest the larger cities and the other is that we have to be closer to where people live,” said Mittal talking about the importance of development of IT sector in different cities.
Nasscom as part of its ongoing initiative to combat cybercrimes also announced its new cyber security lab in Noida that will be based in the Nasscom Headquarters. To further build India as a key secure sourcing destination the facility will actively promote data protection and develop security and privacy codes and standards, the release stated.
Nasscom also plans to use their campus to facilitate networking and enhanced interactions amongst members of the Industry.
