Advertising will explode in India in the next 5 years with print, TV, internet and radio benefitting the most according to PricewaterhouseCoopers(PWC) global entertainment and media outlook. The break up will be as under:

  1. Newspaper advertising will lead the charge with compounded annual growth rate of of 12 per cent from 2011-2015, second only to Indonesia. The country’s 2010 newspaper circulation revenue stood at 5,825 crore, which will touch 7272 crore by 2015.
  2. India’s television advertising revenue will overtake newspapers, generating over 9,000crore in five years to cross 19,200 crore.

Overall, the Indian media and entertainment Industry will grow at more than twice the global rate of a little under 6 percent until 2015 so as to reach 1.45 lakh crore from around 79,133 crore in 2010.

Internet led advertising in India will clock the fastest growth until 2015 and  is expected to more than double to reach 1,800 crore.  Digital platforms will drive the future operating models globally, showing the highest growth among all categories.  Internet led advertising will clock the fastest and highest growth and reach 1800 crore against the around 702 crore in 2010, a CAGR of 20.9 per cent. Even the Indian radio industry is expected to touch 1800 crore by 2015. The film industry is projected to grow at nearly 11 per cent over the next five years.
