The MSME (micro small and medium enterprises) ministry after a recent census observed that 30 per cent of the registered MSMEs in the state are closed and another 20 per cent are untraceable.
Maharashtra records the maximum number of registered MSMEs, which is believed to be 160,000 and the number is still growing.
According to the analysis several units stay closed for years. This has also resulted in wastage of land for years.
