The President of Russia, Vladimir Putin visited India recently. After a wide range of Interaction with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Russian president signed various pacts to strengthen the relationship. Along with defence and trade deals, PM Modi and Putin planned to intensify cooperation in the education sector.

The countries have recognised the positive impact of the expansion of linkages between higher education institutions and have planned to continue building the mutually respectful relationship.

Promoting Interaction Between School Children

The most important addition to the unprecedented level of bilateral ties is the interaction between young people, especially school children, of India and Russia. This will serve as a basis for a long-term cooperation between the two countries.

Memorandum Of Understanding

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has also been signed between India’s Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) and Russia's SIRIUS educational centre. The MoU will provide a platform for joint scientific and entrepreneurial efforts by the youth of the two nations. This will be done through the exchange of visits, sharing best practices in the promotion of educational, scientific and innovation and to foster a knowledge-driven innovation ecosystem in India and Russia.

Sustained Exchange Programme

During the interaction, Prime Minister Narendra Modi pitched for a sustained exchange program. Both the nations have a great interest in academic exchanges of teachers and students. Especially, working on joint scientific and educational projects for improving the way of living of poor people and make their lives simpler.

Encouraging Innovation

During the discussion, PM Modi urged the youths of both the countries to work on innovation. The Russians have excelled in many fields including mathematics, Artificial Intelligence, Robotics and cognitive science. They algorithmic mind and modern age innovation can benefit India.

India also has launched many initiatives for encouraging innovations through Atal Innovation mission. The countries are planning to create synergy between the two sides based on their long-standing partnership. The innovations will help improve the lives of poor and needy people.

Under the Integrated Long-Term Programme, the nations have agreed to revive cooperation in the fields of science, technology and innovations. This will be done by drawing up a roadmap for further cooperation between different Laboratories, Academia, Universities, Institutions and Organisations in scientific and technological areas of mutual priority.
