Top Inventions That Helped the Healthcare Industry during Pandemic

Healthcare technology has evolved so much in the last decade. From patient monitoring devices to Telehealth, there are more ways than ever before to ensure everyone gets the appropriate care regardless of their social and economic position.

Technology is changing how doctors monitor and diagnose patients. It has also enabled healthcare providers the ability to monitor patients remotely, saving costs and time while also offering more flexibility to the patient. For example, telemedicine providers can now provide consultations via video conference to patients staying hundreds of miles away. It also helps to provide a better environment at hospitals – helping heal patients – inside and outside – whether they are there for short-term or long-term stays.

Though the list is very long, we have skimmed and tried to list some best tech inventions that helped the healthcare industry during covid and will continue to for a long time.

Wearable Devices

Wearable technology helps doctors to spot physical changes in patients and track their recovery more effectively. These devices are becoming increasingly necessary because of the significant rise in chronic diseases around the globe, according to Dr Karoly Horvath, an assistant professor at the University of Mississippi Medical Centre’s Department of Family Medicine.

Wearable devices have always been aimed at fitness. That's about to change. As this technology matures and becomes more affordable, the medical community is going to find a lot of uses for it. The main advantage of wearable devices is that they collect data from the user's body in real-time, meaning doctors can get a complete picture of an individual's well-being. The information collected could also be used to generate metrics that predict health problems before they arise, which could help people stay healthy longer.

In addition to collecting data from internal systems, wearable devices can also be used to monitor certain biological functions from the outside, such as heart rates and blood pressure. This kind of information can be crucial when treating patients with conditions like diabetes or asthma.

Patient Lifting Machines

New technology is being used in hospitals to help nurses lift patients. Nurses have been using these machines for years, but now they're becoming a lot more common. They can be found in facilities all over the world. These machines have been a godsend for nurses who have to lift heavy patients all day long.

Lifting patients can be a dangerous and physically demanding job, especially when nurses deal with patients who are large or have limited mobility. This makes simple tasks very risky. Lifting and moving patients are some of the leading causes of back pain for hospital workers. These "patient lifts" are becoming increasingly popular as more hospitals realize how useful they can be in reducing back pain among their staff members.

The best part about these lifts is that they are very easy to operate. They have controls on them that allow the nurses to move the machine around easily and smoothly without any help from other people.

Telehealth Apps

Health and technology have turned into a powerful combination in modern healthcare, and it is becoming more interesting every day. Here are some ways telehealth and health apps help doctors. Telehealth now is not just about virtual appointments and video visits with your doctor; it's also about monitoring health, tracking symptoms and connecting with the right people when needed.  Doctors can use telehealth apps to monitor vital signs, fitness levels, schedule appointments and take advantage of numerous other features.

For some patients, it may be hard to drive to a clinic for regular checkups, meaning they may end up delaying treatment until an emergency happens when they finally visit a hospital. Doctors can keep track of these patients progress by communicating with them via telehealth apps when necessary. This way, they can make sure they are following through with their treatment plans.

3D Printed Equipments

3D printed equipments have entered the market and performed very well. They helped healthcare by giving an easy and prompt method for creating goods. By using 3D printing methods, healthcare professionals can create bespoke goods for patients. It is also helpful in making custom-made implants for several conditions, including spinal cord injuries and heart disease.

However, there are still certain limitations that exist when it comes to this technology. Most notably, the high price tag associated with creating realistic designs using 3D printing. For complex models, 3D printing must build the item from scratch one layer at a time, which can take hours or even days based on how complicated it is.

Robots and ChatBots

We are currently in a stage where robots and chatbots are operating in support roles. Their main job is to help doctors and nurses do their jobs better and faster. Robots in healthcare serve as assistants for physical tasks like data entry, documentation, laboratory tests, medical imaging interpretation, etc. In future, various digital assistants developed by different companies will start taking on more medical diagnostic roles traditionally reserved for licensed doctors. For example, they may give patients preliminary diagnoses or prescribe medications without human intervention. Apart from these, patients could also use robots and chatbots as virtual doctors for minor illnesses.
