The Sweet Legacy
It all began with the foundation of Tulika’s Ice cream Pvt. Ltd in 1985 which grew into a prominent mass market brand in Eastern India.
But during the year 2007, the brand was facing a shut down due to labour issues coupled with stiff competition from other emerging brands in the market. With family business facing losses, Kunal Pabrai left his job in Bangalore and mulled over starting afresh.
In 2008, Knowing nothing else, but to make ice cream, the Pabrais took over a small factory in Kolkata and combined their technical expertise in crafting the creamiest ice creams with their knowledge of food to make artisanal ice creams using the finest ingredients sourced from around the world. Born out of this ethos was Pabrai’s Fresh & Naturelle Ice Creams, like a phoenix rising from the ashes.

Pabrai’s Ice Creams have a unique taste which ensures loyal & repeat customers. The brand prepares 100% natural ice-creams of various flavours. These includes regular flavours such as vanilla, chocolate etc and some exotic & extraordinary flavours like orange vanilla, wasabi, Sitaphal, Paan etc. The signature product of the company is Pabrai’s Nalen Gur Ice cream which was invented by them and was Hillary Clinton’s favourite during her visit in 2012.
After transforming the ice-cream industry, Pabrai’s have introduces a new range of Milk Shakes & Thick Shakes made from 100% natural ingredients.

Franchising the “natural” success
Pabrai’s fresh and Naturelle Ice creams started franchising in 2011. Currently, the brand has 32 franchise units including 3 company owned outlets across 16 cities in India. Pabrai’s is now looking forward to cover tier I and II cities in India & expand to approx 40+ outlets by March 2019.
In the non-branded segment, they are already supplying to the top end luxury chain of 5 star hotels, restaurants and caterers (horeca) across the country. First franchisees in new cities are also given the option to take up distribution thereby generating two revenue streams – one from retail sales and other from institutional sales (horeca).
