Beauty & wellness industry is appox Rs. 80,000 crore industry that employs about 1 crore people in India growing at almost 18 % p.a.
In conversation Blossom Kochhar, Chairman, Blossom Kochhar Group of Companies at the 7th Salon Wellness & Salon Congress 2018, where she shared the magic of using Aroma Therapy products and why she chose organic beauty products over the chemical ones.
A clear visionary, Dr Blossom Kochhar is the founder of The Blossom Kochhar Group of Companies. She has always been at the forefront of the beauty industry with her wide experience and expertise in Aromatherapy. She has been responsible for reviving and establishing the culture of aromatherapy in India. Her name is synonymous with successful brands - Aroma Magic, Blossom Kochhar College of Creative Arts & Design (BKCCAD) and Aroma Veda.
It has become a trend to go green. Blossom Kochhar believes in the mantra of using organic products and she has brought out a range of products for the label. Regarding the same she said,” We have a product lined up in our business which is Aroma Magic Therapy product which is absolutely natural. Being in the industry for such a long time, I have found that people visit salons to feel good and relax which in a way helps them to get rid of pollution. So, an environment friendly atmosphere is much needed and so we decided to go green and leave behind harmful chemicals in the bin. At the end of the day, we have to think about the wellness of the client.”
The Major Shift
With a complete transition from using chemical products to the organic ones, Blossom Kochhar said,” I ventured in the line of beauty because, “Whatever you put in the skin, you should be able to eat, and what you eat, you should be able to put it in your skin.”After all, our skin is a breathing organ.”
The Franchise Game
When I go into a business, either you should be there and look after it yourself because, she adds,” This is a personal business.” You are personally connected to your client. This is the main reason for me to franchise, because they own a salon. We should make sure of giving the personalized services which is difficult in a company owned businesses.
Future Plans for the business
“We all want to grow Bigger and make things better”, said Dr. Kochhar when asked about her future expansion plans for the business. Further adding to it she gave us an insight on entering in the education space with an aim to fill the skill gap in the beauty industry. “We have just ventured in the education industry because skilling has become a very important part of the beauty & Wellness Industry. Innovations in Cosmetics are also in our bag. It is an industry with huge potential and scope for budding entrepreneurs as well”, said Dr. Kochhar.
