With improved acceptance of ice-cream during winters too, the brand is getting ready with newer tastes this time. Since icecream is a product that is more loved during summers. Will the industry have something new this winter too in terms of variety and offerings to franchisees?
In general, as markets mature there is an increased consumption during winter seasons. Customers start accepting and enjoying ice creams during winters. Also, and more importantly, the awareness amongst consumers that ice creams do not result in one getting sick during the winters is increasing. We have been observing a positive increase in sales during the winters for the last few years, particularly during the festival seasons. Partly due to marriage consumption, but also due to increased store sales. Pabrai's is planning to introduce special flavours more in tune with winter season - like flavours relating to Christmas and also special flavours for marriage season.
Tell us about your next destination for store opening
At present we are looking at opening new stores in Raipur, Pune and looking to explore Chandigarh and some stores nearby in Jamshedpur, Ranchi, Guwahati etc. Talks are on with franchisees. These are new cities where we currently do not have any presence. Other cities where we have a presencewe keep striving to developnew prospects.
What is the best trend these days in icecream industry and what's your brand ready to offer this winters?
At Pabrai's, we have launched our own range of signature milkshakes and thickshakes in our flagship store in Kolkata. These are made from 100% Natural ingredients and are very healthy and tasty unlike the artificial milk shakes and thick shakes made with syrups which are heavily coloured and artificially flavoured. These are going to be launched across our chain in the coming few months. A lot of care has been taken in ensuring a best in class flavour experience, offering value for money with great taste.
One biggest challenge
Getting franchisees to work according to mandated systems and controls is the biggest challenge. Those who do so are very successful but those who are unable to understand the importance of working under the guidelines of franchisor will continue to struggle.
One top tip to succeed in ice cream franchise business
My biggest advice to any ice cream franchisee is to follow the systems and controls set by your franchisor. A franchisor usually has a ton of experience in running a successful business. There is no need to reinvent the wheel. Most Indian franchisees struggle with this issue. Despite having everything laid out in black and white, most Indian franchisees are unable to follow the basics.
