Chennai based, Big Chick Fried Chicken aspires to grow tremendously via franchise route in India and abroad. The brand is already receiving an awesome response from its customers. In a dialogue with Ekta Sharma Verma, Arun krishnasamy, Founder and Business Head, Big Chick Fried Chicken spoke at length on the next move and further expansion plans of his brand.

Brief us on the origin and concept of your brand

Big Chick Fried Chicken debuted in 2003 as a fried chicken, home delivery concept in Chennai. Later with overwhelming response from its customers, it started its outlets in malls and high streets throughout Tamilnadu. 

Share your brand’s USP

High quality products at reasonable price is brand’s USP. The brand offers lucrative business model and a profitable market growth with low capital investment and RoI in just two years. Whereas training and support is concerned it offers complete guidance on construction, equipment and design (both interior and exterior).

What kind of franchise opportunity are you offering?

We offer franchising opportunity in three models- kiosk, express and restaurant model. 

What kind of training and support do you provide for your franchisees?

In today’s competitive food service environment, having the right system, the right team and the right training makes all the difference. The franchisee staff undergoes a three week training programme. The company appoints a franchise manager for each franchise outlet who ensures that the franchise outlet adheres to the brand’s quality standards and makes sure costs are kept under control.

What all parameters do you follow before opening your center at a particular location? 

We undertake a detailed viability study for each location. This includes factors like demographics of the location, eating habits, local competitors and also financial viability in terms of rentals and overheads.

What qualities do you for before partnering with the franchisees? 

We look for aspiring entrepreneurs with sound local knowledge, positive attitude and good location. Apart from this, the franchisee must understand our business model and run the business efficiently according to our systems.  The prospective franchisee should have the required financial resources to establish the business and ability to run the business profitably.

Kindly share brand’s further expansion plans in India and other countries?

Currently, we have 12 company owned outlets and six franchise outlets. Big Chick fried Chicken plans to open 32 restaurants in the current year taking its count to 50 restaurants through company owned and franchise model in India. Internationally we plan to open three restaurants in United Kingdom this year.
