Increasing business avenues in the air purifier space

With the increasing air pollution levels and the call to be fit and healthy, many brands have decided to enter into the air purifier space too. Brands like Kent, Hicare and many others have launched new air purifier models for the patrons. The move not just encourages better business opportunities but also shows the way many brands have given an array of options to choose from. Let’s know how this industry is growing in India.

Pest Control Service Provider and home cleaning Services Company, Hicare in partnership with Blueair has launched a new Air purifier, the iClassic 280i with a patented HEPA Silent technology that ensures whisper silent delivery. Air Pollution is one of the major concerns in India and more than 1 out of every 5 casualties in India is directly or indirectly associated with air pollution. To tackle this problem Hicare has entered the picture to make sure that common human being should not worry about this ever growing problem.

Manufacturers are experiencing a definite rise in sales as the air purifier becomes a must-have in homes, offices and institutions, much like the water purifier. Another player, Sharp with 52% market share is the global leader in the Airpurifier Business. Sharp boasts of its air Purifier plus mosquito catcher which is world’s first air purifier with mosquito catcher, SHARP FP-FM40E. Kent RO Systems Ltd., one of the renowned healthcare brands in India, has also launched its own range of HEPA Air Purifiers in India. High emissions of harmful particulate matter have forced people and organisations to look for ways to mitigate the impact of indoor and outdoor pollution on human health. Seeing the opportunity Kent too ventured into air purifiers category. Dr. Mahesh Gupta, Chairman, Kent RO Systems Ltd shares with us: ‘We consider ourselves as a house of purity and have embarked on a journey to develop innovative solutions for pure and healthy living. We are already into water purifiers and thus keeping the business synergy in mind and with a view to help people have pure air, we decided to enter a new business segment – air purifiers. The logic was simple – all of us want pure water and pure air – and hence the business proposition to enter into this segment was very much in coherence with our mission. More so there is synergy in terms of production, sales, and most importantly, need.’

Commenting on the industry size, he says: ‘There is no well defined market size; the air purifier market in India is still in its infancy. Air purifier is a new concept product which people are trying to understand. As far as Kent RO Systems is concerned, we are not looking at market share. We are not looking at what numbers we’ll get. This is an evolving market and it will take 4-5 years for it to settle and then probably we can have a clearer picture. Till the time consumer awareness builds up and they start picking up the products, we will keep informing them about the benefits of the product and also about our presence in this segment.’

Fading air quality, rising health concerns will always fuel the sale of products like air purifiers. Brands are making ways to deliver best to the customers with more variety products in their portfolios. Even in tier II and III cities, franchisees have started promoting the offers and discounts more efficiently. A product that was once considered a product of luxury is now a necessity for most markets. The air purifier market is set to grow even faster in the approaching times.
