Franchising: A Fair Game For Fairer Sex

Taking into consideration the current scenario of business world today in India the ratio of males and females doing businesses is almost showing similar counts. The domain which was considered to be male dominated few years back is now accepting more and more female entrepreneurs. There are number of factors like education qualification of women, financial requirements to maintain the high standard of living, and technological advancements contributing to this trend. However, the most significant factor contributing to the more and more woman entering the business world is franchising.

Earlier the responsibility of managing the family and kids used to lead many women to give up their professional careers, as it was unmanageable to fulfill job responsibilities along with managing home. For such conditions franchising business has proved to be blessing as it give women an opportunity to manage their home as well as run their franchise business from home. This can be said keeping in mind the advantages offered by franchising opportunities over an independent business started from scratch.

Women opting for franchising vs independent business

A franchised business offer more benefits over an independent business for women. Let us have a look at some of these benefits:

Low risk factor: Every franchise business offers reduced risk factor. As women in general avoid risks and seek stability, franchising is one of such business concept that comes with minimum risk and high return benefits. Franchising gives them the stability as there is the support of the franchisor as well as his team which is missing from an independent business.

More flexibility: Franchising give more flexibility in terms of managing and maintaining a business. A woman is compelled to do multiple jobs at the same time. Franchising is the only business that helps the women to maintain a perfect balance between personal and business life. Thus, it is only in franchising, a women is able to enjoy a more balanced lifestyle with a valuable career, and a decent income in-hand.

Well-established business: Running a franchise is comparatively easier than running an independent business. A woman who aspires to have a career but not at the cost of her family can buy a franchise as the brand is already established. Therefore, they do not have to devise any business strategies for starting a business.

Well trained employees: The advantage of a franchise also includes availability of well trained employees. Aspiring women entrepreneurs after taking the franchise route are bestowed with trained employees by the franchisor for smooth functioning of the franchise business. On the other hand, in an independent business, it is the responsibility of the owner to select and train the employees, which is a difficult job.

Freedom to delegate tasks: A franchise business offers leverages in terms of assigning tasks to trained employees, thereby reducing the franchisee’s work. A franchisee can assign tasks to her employees when she has to leave the outlet for some work at home. The franchise managers and other staff can handle the day-to-day operations of the business in the absence of the franchisee as they have been well trained by the parent company.

Well-suited franchises for the fairer sex

Women with their inherent business acumen, coordinating power, and reasoning capability can do wonders in any field. Even in franchising, women can take up any franchise concept according to her interests and capital etc. Nevertheless, there are a few franchises which are best suited for women. These are:

Apparel and lifestyle industry: The fairer sex is endowed with innate passion for apparels and fashion. Due to their in depth understanding, they can successfully manage and run their apparel and jewellery franchises. A lot of women franchisees have entered franchising by taking the franchise of apparel brands.

Beauty and wellness industry: Women and beauty are interrelated. Women franchisees can run beauty salons and other health centres successfully because they are efficient in grooming and taking care of others.

Education industry: Women franchisors and franchisees are also perfect for the education franchise sector. Moreover, the pre-school sector also offers huge scope for married women and mothers. Women, can nurture and understand the kids better than men, as they are more patient and affectionate.

Home and furnishing sector: Another sector suitable for women is the home furnishing and décor sector. Home and furnishing sector is fit for every women franchisee, as they are good in organising things and has eye for detail analysis, thus helps them to handle  business well.
