To make IT education affordable GTec Education was conceptualised in 2001 and in short span, the company has become the largest computer education network. Mehroof Manalody, Chairman and Managing Director, GTec Education shares the success story of the brand here.
Neha Gohil (NG): Tell us something about the inception and success of ‘G-Tec Education’?
Mehroof Manalody (MM): G-Tec took birth in 2001 foreseeing the inevitable need of IT Education for the common people. The company focused on to the mediocre and low for the computer education to make them professionals globally. The company is the worldwide leader in IT Education having its corporate office at Singapore with more than 500 training centres across the globe.
The brand has trained more than eight lakh students in last 10 years with staff strength of more than 4,000 operates in 16 states of India with regional support offices in Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai, Delhi, Jaipur, Bhubaneswar and Kolkata. Apart from India and Singapore, the company is also operating in countries like Mexico, Srilanka, Kuwait, Iran, Qatar etc.
NG: What is the USP of the brand?
MM: The USP of the brand is International affiliations and certifications, variety of courses in all the streams of IT Education (200 plus courses), affordable fees, attractive programmes and products matching industry requirement according to the market, unmatched network for uninterrupted services.
NG: What inspired you to start the company? Why and when did you take the franchise route for expansion?
MM: It is a financial burden for a common man to do a professional IT course. I started the brand with an aim to make this education sector affordable. Moreover, the necessity of IT for the future and the demand of the era made me more passionate to impart this education through franchising. I started the expansion in 2001.
NG: What are your future plans in terms of expansion through franchising (national and international)?
MM: Our plan is to make minimum of 1,000 centres in the network across the world by end of year 2011. Education is mandatory for everyone so, G-Tec would like to expand worldwide with maximum number of quality training centres.
NG: What are the qualities you seek in your prospective franchisees? How much area and investment is required by them?
MM: The prospects must be ambitious to grow and develop according to our objectives to become number one where ever they are. They must have passion to educate people in need. They must have a quality of keeping better relationship within the network and of course to have the quality of giving respect and take respect. They must have an excellence of imparting quality education up to the satisfaction of students by ensuring the quality management system in a continual improvement in service process.
The minimum area required is around 2,000 sq.ft and investment is approximately Rs 8-10 lakh but it will depend on the city / location.
NG: How many franchisees do you have in India and overseas?
MM: We have over 150 centres outside the country and 360 in India.
NG: What encouraged you to enter international market? Which are the main countries you are focusing on?
MM: Our slogan itself is to create professionals globally and we give innumerable add on value international certificates to our students for their better career across the world. The association with worldwide entities inspired us to deliver IT education across the world and to focus quality education throughout the world to be global leader in IT. India and China are my main focus points for expansion.
NG: How does G-Tec Education support and train franchisees?
MM: G-Tec provides all the service and support in the marketing and promotional activities including training and evaluation of the results. The company has its own technical wing to design curriculum, syllabus updating, training and examination and certification. G-Tec Research and Development wing will ensure the right product at the right place and train accordingly. We have a Material Department called GMAT to stock and supply the study/promotional/administrative materials. Our Administration/Operations are controlled by G-Tec Electronic Management System (GEMS) and it is routed through our regional support and area support offices. G-Tec has a proper system of semester/international examinations and certifications to the satisfaction of the customer.
