Cashing on Slip Guard Opportunity

Mithila Consumer Goods, a company which believes that with honesty and transparency in the approach, policy and commitment, the franchise network will definitely show a rising graph. In an interview, Sanjay Anand, Chief Executive Officer, MCGPL shares the future plans of his company.

Ramanjit Kaur (RK): Could you please share the origin, growth and success of Mithila Consumer Goods Pvt. Ltd?

Sanjay Anand (SA): Late Shri Lila Kant Jha is the man behind the success story of Mithila Consumer Goods Pvt. Ltd (MCGPL). A mentor to give us believes and thrust. Resultant the birth of MCGPL with his combined experience in developing and managing business ideas; his visions have led us to have diversified business lines today. The business journey, which began in New Delhi in 1995, entered the international arena with several foreign renowned companies' representation for India.

RK: What is Mithila Consumer Goods all about? What kind of services it offers?

SA: MCGPL is all about fast growing transitional business that conglomerates in the world with diversified activities business spanning almost every corner of India with valued customers. It includes major MNC companies from various sectors across India sourcing global technological innovations and simplifying industrial applications. We deliver a comprehensive range of anti-slip products, architectural products, fire protection products, corporate signage and branding, road safety products, artificial grass, selected agro foods and fruits.

RK: What inspired Mithila Consumer Goods to take the franchise route to expand its presence in India?

SA: The potential market for safety durability and beauty protection is endless. Every area represents another customer. Just a few posh properties in satellite town can represent more than 10 lakh sq. ft of potential sales. Thus, we are going to start offering franchise business for our ‘Slip Guard’ brand in Indian sub-continent and African countries from next financial year.

RK: What will be the eligibility criteria for selecting the franchisees of your company?

SA: MCGPL investment criterion varies city and opportunity wise. It starts from Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 15 lakh. Store and office area again depends upon city and location wise. Most typical area requirement would be ranging between 200 - 1, 000 sq. ft. To become our franchisee you only need four things - the desire to be your own boss, the willingness to learn, the ability to manage business relationships and the passion to be success. MCGPL will provide you with everything else you need to successfully own and run your own business.

RK: How many franchised centres do you presently have in India and abroad? What are your target locations to expand Mithila Consumer Goods Pvt. Ltd in India?

SA: Mithila Consumer Goods Pvt. Ltd has executed projects all across India in a very short period of time. We have more than 15 partners spread all across India. Retail chain store concept by Mithila Retail will be flagship business model to be introduced by us in coming months in all metro, A and B class cities. We are working on it and would launch it by early next year.

RK: What kind of training and support will a franchisee gets after partnering with your company?

SA: We always believe that building knowledge base is the most important part for the success of any business and this is true especially in case of franchising as most of the franchisees would operate away from us. As far as the support is concerned; we always provide our franchisees with:

  • Building knowledge through ‘Mithila School of Excellency’
  • Initial training covers – products, application, Mithila business ethics, sales
  • On-going training, brushing and sharing knowledge is a key for us.
  • Most important support is that we help our partners to build their business as they represent us in particular cities. We just need them to work closely with us on all aspects.
  • Sales, marketing, promotion and market protection support.

RK: What are the company’s future plans in terms of expansion through franchising?

SA: Our goal is to spread our franchise network with launch of ‘Slip Guard Store’ (SGS) in coming financial year and have 500 ‘Slip Guard Store’ (SGS) in next five years and extend 1,500 SGS in next 10 years.
