With a vision to contribute a hand to the beauty industry, Dr Blossom Kochhar took the onus of reinstating the culture of ‘Aromatherapy’ in India. Col Kochhar’s business acumen combined with Dr Blossom Kochhar’s vision gave birth to the now celebrated ‘Blossom Kochhar Group of Companies’. In an Interview, Dr Blossom Kochhar, Founder and Chairperson, Blossom Kochhar Group of Companies shares th future plans of her company.
Ramanjit Kaur (RK): Could you please shed some light on the inception of Blossom Kochhar in India?
Dr Blossom Kochhar (BK): Blossom Kochhar Group started in the year 1987 and is a fine synthesis of ideas, defined and redefined over decades. From the inception of the idea and converting it into an internationally accredited organisation, the journey has been very educating, challenging and inspiring. We started by going into salon, then education cosmetics, spas and franchise. From being a beautician, I have now created a beauty empire to cater to the needs and wants of our customers.
RK: What is Blossom Kochhar all about? What kind of services it offers?
BK: Blossom Kochhar Group is the inter weaving of brands associated with wellness, beauty and care. We own multiple companies spanning across skincare and beauty products; spas and salons; beauty, hairstyling, spa and personal grooming training academies. We are successfully running through various brands like Aroma Magic, Blossom Kochhar College of Creative Arts and Design (BKCCAD) and Aroma Veda.
RK: What inspired Blossom Kochhar to take the franchise route to expand its presence in India?
BK: We took the franchise route for business expansion to reach out to everyone.
RK: What is the USP of Blossom Kochhar? How it is different from other players in the sector?
BK: Aromatherapry and affordability are our Unique Selling Preposition. We are different because we are into many things such as cosmetics, education, and aromatherapy. Besides this, we also provide quality products at affordable prices.
RK: What will be the eligibility criteria for selecting the franchisees of your company?
BK: We look at individuals with good standing and proper place to open the franchised outlet. For which, we require minimum area of 2, 000 sq. ft for spa and 1, 200 to 1, 500 sq. ft for salon.
RK: How many franchised outlets do you presently have in India? What are your target locations to expand Blossom Kochhar in India as well as abroad?
BK: We are presently operating through around 12 franchised outlets across the nation. Now, we are eyeing all the major metropolitan cities along with the various holiday resorts to increase our presence via franchising. We believe in franchising and we intend to expand more in salon and spa.
RK: What kind of training and support will a franchisee gets after partnering with your company?
BK: We provide our franchisees with the education, training, latest updates about hair, make-up, skin and spa.
