To fill the gap between the expectations of the employer and the skilled workforce, i360 entrepreneurs embarked upon this mission through their vocational training institute. Deepanshu Khurana, CEO, i360 Staffing & Training Solutions, shares his experience of entry into vocational training sector and its expansion.

What inspired you to venture into this business? What research did you undertake?

Our perception of the gap existing between the employer’s expectations and the candidate's skills led us to start this business. In fact, we never conducted a thorough research of this assessment, but our in-house experience in training and coaching gave us the inputs and we entered this business.

Which courses does your company offer?

We offer courses like Spoken English, Accounting and Finance, IELTS and Call Centre Training. We are also into Corporate and Institutional Training.

Do you have any corporate tie-ups? If so, how does it help your students? Please mention the names of the companies.

Yes, we do have multi-level corporate engagements, starting from recruitment to student placement to training and to academics. All these associations directly or indirectly add value to a student's career. Presently, we are working with brands like Vodafone, Airtel, Pantaloons, Haldiram's, Unicon, Asian Paints, Ericsson to name a few.

Why did you select franchising to expand your business?

We believe that it is extremely difficult to enter a market without knowing the local flavour. Moreover, we wanted to grow horizontally and rapidly, and franchising seemed to be the answer.

What are your requirements from an aspiring franchisee?

He should have premises of around 700 sq.ft., possess a capital of around Rs 5 lakh, bear an entrepreneurial mindset and must be willing to take i360 as a full time profession.

What training and support do you provide to your franchisees?

We provide complete know-how on how to run an education set up, inclusive of sales, operations, technology and academics.

Do you also provide training to the faculty members of your franchisees?

Yes, we conduct regular training programmes for freshers and on-going training for faculty members.

How do you maintain the quality and standard of your courses?

We have a full fledged R&D team that keeps a track on the latest in the industry, locally and globally and we keep on updating our courses accordingly.

How many centres do you have at present and what are your expansion plans?

At present, we have 45 centres in north and eastern parts of the country. We intend to have a pan-India presence this year, and add 100 more centres to the existing number.
