iCreate\'s Whatnext-2015 event to encourage next generation entrepreneurs

International Centre for Entrepreneurship and Technology (iCreate) will launch its flagship 'Whatnext-2015' programme on March 13 to provide a platform for participants to holistically explore trends in emerging technologies, engage with successful entrepreneurs and experts, interact with investors, and network.

The theme of this year's Whatnext - 2015 event is "The Journey - Converting Ideas into Wealth" for opportunities in the realm of 12 empowering technologies relevant to India as identified by McKinsey Global Institute (MGI).

While sharing his views through a technology platform, Dr Harry Yuklea, Academic & Practitioner, Technion University, Israel and the Conference Convenor for whatnext 2015 said, "As more and more economies recognise the benefits of shifting paradigm towards entrepreneurship and innovation, the real question is what are the optimal technologies and funding instruments that leverage existing resources and local talent. whatnext 2015 is structured around these important questions. We are convinced that the contribution of the world class speakers, mentors and sponsors we were able to bring will trigger a real impact on the formation of entrepreneurial capital in India."

Joining the press conference from Philadelphia, USA, Parag Amin, Founding Team Member and Director, iCreate and also an Inventor and a Serial Entrepreneur, shared, "As a global platform to debate and discuss the future of technology and innovation, Whatnext brings together some of the best minds and international thought leaders. This platform will provide the Indian entrepreneur with an overview of local problems and opportunities along with global vision, technologies and solutions to address them. It will also facilitate connecting potential entrepreneurs with seasoned investors by organizing a "speed-dating" format investment pitch session. Established as well as aspiring entrepreneurs will share the highlights of their journey with the participants. A great networking platform, this event will cater to the palate of many member groups of the broader entrepreneurial ecosystem."

Dr Oded Shoseyov, Professor, Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Founder & Chief Scientific Officer, CollPlant, who is one of the keynote session speakers addressing the topic - Nano Bio Mimetics: materials for the future shared, "200 years of modern chemistry introduced into our life a wide range of un-sustainable synthetic materials which carry serious environmental and economic consequences while some of the materials such as certain plastics and ceramics do not perform as we would like. In contrast, millions of years of evolution created super performing sustainable materials produced by plants, insects and animals. Nano Bio Mimetics is a new field in science and technology that brings together for example the toughness of cellulose nano-fibers from the plant kingdom, the remarkable elasticity and resilience of resilin that enables flees to jump as high as 400 times their height from the insect kingdom, and the adhesion power of super-biological glue of mussels that enable it to bind tightly to different surfaces under water from the marine kingdom. These novel super performing new materials are the materials for the future."

Angela Homsi, Kaenaat/Generation/Microvest (one of the speakers) added, "When technology and entrepreneurship are married with deep intent to create positive impact, they become a powerful tool to drive exponential change in the life of millions of people. Gearing the Israeli tech transformational potential to the vast Indian market can tremendously benefit both nations. I am looking forward to be a part of Whatnext to be held in Ahmedabad, India on 13th March, 2015."

The conference also includes two sessions featuring Indian as well as International entrepreneurs sharing their journey of converting Ideas into Wealth. For an Indian perspective, Paul Needham, CEO Simpa Networks and Dr Ajay Ranka, CEO, Zydex Industries will share their journey while Karl Mehta, Founder CodeforIndia.org and SkillUpINDIA.org, Founder & CEO, Edcast and Dr Oded Shoseyov, Chief Scientific Officer, CollPlant will give insights about an international entrepreneurial journey.

Apart from the interesting keynote sessions and entrepreneurial journey's, a special feature of this edition of whatnext is an hour long segment comprising of three parallel sessions for entrepreneurs to interact and engage with VCs/Angels. The participating VC's include Kalaari Capital, GVFL, Ryerson Futures, Acumen, Mumbai Angels and many others.
