Trade Fair excellent platform for MSMEs: President

The President of India Pranab Mukherjee in his inaugural address at the 32nd edition of the India International Trade Fair on Wednesday said that the fair has been an excellent platform for micro, small and micro enterprises (MSMEs) to showcase their products and penetrate both domestic and international markets at attractive prices. President stressed that MSMEs are a source of rural empowerment, which is one of the key objectives of government’s agenda of inclusive growth.

Noticing the theme of the IITF this year, “Skilling India,” he said that skill building is an integral part of a nation’s economic progress. He said that India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) has done commendable work in bringing all stakeholders together to share their experience at this important event.

The office of DC (MSME) is also participating in the theme pavilion, which is showcased at Hall No. 1 to display the strength of MSME tool rooms and technology development centres in skilling and imparting training to the youth of the country.

More than 80 participants from all over India are participating in the MSME Expo-2012 exhibiting their products in more than 88 stalls. The SMEs from all over India are participating to demonstrate their quality products, skill and traditional artwork of India. The uniqueness of this year MSME Expo is that visitors will have the chance to see the product from Anantnag (J&K) to Thrissur (Kerala) and from Rajkot (Gujarat) to Assam.

The MSME Expo-2012 is facilitating the exhibitors to promote their products by providing them with subsidised stalls. The products range varies from technical products requiring high precision manufacturing to products that manifests India’s strength in traditional knowledge of ayurveda and artwork. Special category entrepreneurs have been encouraged through enhanced subsidy.

The objective of this exhibition is to recognise the strength of India’s Micro and Small-Scale unit by showcasing the technology adopted by them in manufacturing products and also to provide a suitable platform at reasonable cost to develop a platform for future trade and business not only domestically but also globally.
