Sankalp Social Enterprise Awards which gives recognition to social enterprises in India today announced the names of the awardees in five high-impact sectors. The awarded enterprises work in the areas of healthcare, education, clean energy (renewable), technology for development and agri businesses.
Barrix Agro Sciences in the Agriculture, Food & Rural Business category, Green Power Systems in the Clean Energy/Technology category, Best First Step Education/IQST in the Education & Vocational Training category, Banka Bio Loo in the Healthcare, Water & Sanitation category and Awaz De in the Technology for Development were the companies who won Sankalp Social Enterprise awards.
Aparajita Agrawal, Director, Sankalp Forum said, “We at Intellecap started the Sankalp awards to discover and recognize the best social enterprise models. Since 2009, we have sourced over 450 social enterprises, enabled 200 mentoring connections and facilitated over $120 m of equity investments into more than 30 enterprises. We congratulate this year’s winners and look forward to continuing our work to find and support high potential social enterprises – with a special focus on low income and North Eastern states of India this year.”
InVenture won the second edition of DFID Samridhi-Sankalp Recognition for Women Empowerment. The winner was felicated by Parveen Amanullah, Bihar’s Minister of Social Welfare and received a cash grant of Rs 5 Lakh.
Sakhi Unique Rural Enterprises won The Sankalp Forum and the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves’s Sankalp – Alliance Award for Innovation in Clean Cooking Solutions. Sakhi received a cash grant of $15,000 along with the opportunity to be considered for the Alliance’s Spark Fund.
