Small Industries Development Bank of India expects about USD 600 million from multi-lateral agencies during the current fiscal for providing credit to micro, small and medium enterprises (SME) sector.
The multi lateral agencies include the World Bank and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). Of the total World Bank loan, USD 300 million, USD 200 million is for the micro credit while remaining USD 100 million would be utilised for the SME sector growth, especially in the low-growth states.
In 2009-10, the World Bank approved USD 400 million loan to the SIDBI for increasing credit for the SME sector.
