Pritish Nandy set to launch online video streaming Ogle in India

Pritish Nandy, chairman of Pritish Nandy Communications Ltd (PNC) is all set to launch a proprietary online video streaming product called Ogle, on the lines of global firms such as Netflix Inc. and Amazon’s instant video. The development was first reported by Mint.

According to Nandy, Ogle can stream high quality content on any device, including smartphones, tablets, laptops, as well as Smart TVs. In addition, slow internet connections will not be a deterrent for the service due to its compression technology.

For the past couple of months, Nandy has been inviting people to test the platform and plans to launch the service by the end year of this year. The plan is to offer 150 TV shows and over 1,000 English movies on the platform. Without disclosing names, he also said that the company is in talks with leading content providers including studios, channels and production houses. The company also plans to announce a telecom partner for broadband services.

The service will be available at three monthly subscription options, and would cost in the range of Rs 500-1,500. The basic plan would offer unlimited access (via the users own internet connection) to content through five registered devices. The company will also look at ad-based revenues in order to further reduce cost for end users.
