Online medical records storage startup eKincare raises Rs 1 cr from Adroitent

Hyderabad based Aayuv Technologies Pvt Ltd, the company behind eKincare, an online platform that enables users to monitor their critical medical information and view it anywhere anytime, has raised $161,000 (Rs 1 crore) in another round of funding from US-based healthcare enterprise Adroitent Pvt. Ltd. The latest funding will be used for product development, hiring and marketing. The service currently in beta also launched eKincare app to easily digitize the existing physical copies of your medical records.

The firm recently secured the same amount from Hyderabad-based incubator-cum-seed fund Bitchemy Ventures.

eKincare gathers medical results from various healthcare providers, updates profiles, and provides a single repository for users to store all their medical records. It then identifies potential health risks from the data and informs and motivates them to take necessary steps towards improving their health.

“We are lowering all the barriers/excuses to consolidate one’s medical history by providing the platform for free to host all their medical records. We would decipher the info and convert it into a format (color coded, graphical history and timeline) that is easy to understand.” says Kiran Kalakuntla, who incorporated Aayuv Technologies in September 2014, after exiting his profile at telecommunications giant AT&T, as a product manager and moving back to India. He has previously worked at companies including Alltel, Maureil Patent Practice and NetCentrics.

eKincare tracks users’ family history, medical details and then enables them to assess, track and stay informed about the developments with regards to their health conditions. Users can identify potential health risks and take necessary preventive steps in advance. The platform is currently free for users with no limits on the data stored and allows multiple profile management.

Sharing his views on the recent development, Srinath DeviReddy, President, Adroitent, said "We see a great value in eKincare’s consolidation of medical history like in the west, and building a layer of analytics on top of it to drive healthy behaviour."

Further, speaking on the potential the online healthcare industry in India offers for startups, Sunil Motaparti, founder and director, BitChemy, said "As the Indian healthcare story evolves, there are tremendous opportunities for this to happen. We believe eKincare's approach of combining digitisation with deep analytics and home healthcare could offer tremendous value to end consumers and change the rules of the game."
