National Institute for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (NI-MSME) in collaboration with the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation is planning to set up a micro-business centre (MBC).
The MBC will promote entrepreneurship among the slum people and economically backward people and create self-employment for them. It will be set up with an investment of Rs 25 lakhs and funded by the ministry.
The centre which will become operational from September will have entrepreneurship development programmes and need based skills. The programmes will be of the duration of one to three months. The first batch will have an intake of 25-30 candidates.
The centre would be based on the public-private partnership model involving NGOs, municipality and stakeholders.
