My Mobile Payments founder Shashank Joshi wins Asia Pacific Entrepreneurship Award 2015

Shashank M. Joshi, Managing Director of My Mobile Payments Ltd, has won the Asia Pacific Entrepreneurship Award 2015 India (APEA) under the 'Most Promising Category'. My Mobile Payments Ltd (MMPL) is one of India's leading mobile payment solutions companies operating the MoneyOnMobile brand.

Since its inception in 2010, MMPL has launched an m-payment solution that makes life simpler for the common man, and specifically the "unbanked" segment of the population. To reach this vast customer base across India, MMPL has taken a unique distribution approach, comprising a strong sales and distribution team and a highly committed network of approximately 275,000 retailers, thus creating new jobs in the process.

Twenty six Indian entrepreneurs and business leaders were named awardees of the Asia Pacific Entrepreneurship Awards 2015 in Delhi. Over 300 attendees were present at the by-invitation-only event, comprising industry leaders, leading entrepreneurs and dignitaries.

The Asia Pacific Entrepreneurship Awards, or APEA, is a regional recognition program organised by Enterprise Asia, the region's foremost association and think-tank for entrepreneurship. The Awards are presented to a handful of entrepreneurs across Asia and the Pacific region each year, with award ceremonies held in over 12 countries.

Other recipients this year include, Dr. Lalit S Kanodia, Chairman of Datamatics Global Services Ltd, receiving the Special Achievement Award, and Ekta Kapoor, Joint Managing Director & Creative Mentor of Balaji Telefilms Ltd, as Woman Entrepreneur of the Year.

Speaking on the award, Shashank Joshi, Managing Director, said, "I'm very humbled to receive this recognition from APEA. It's a prestigious award and the selection criteria is especially stringent. The award is a tribute to my MoneyOnMobile team whose dedication and hard work has helped us become one of the largest mobile payment service providers in India."

"Our goal is to create over 100,000 direct and indirect jobs in India in the next few years. Currently at 5000, we've a fairly long way to go, and its recognition like this and all the adulation that keeps us focused," he further added.

MoneyOnMobile is an application with multi-lingual capability, and the first in India to have a multi-lingual app for a service in this category. MoneyOnMobile also announced the launch of its domestic Mobile Money Order service for customers in January 2015. The start-up is currently authorised by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to set up semi-closed payment system in India, which enables registered users to buy good products and services from registered merchants.

At the recent Mobile World Congress 2015, MMPL launched its PayJaldi solution for SME businesses to support invoicing and collect payments from their customers while providing services or selling goods. With MoneyOnMobile, Stop at Nothing Pay for Anything.
