A recent study commissioned by Microsoft and independently conducted by Boston Consulting Group (BCG), a global management consulting firm and a leading adviser on business strategy has shown that adoption of IT business solutions by small and medium enterprises (SMEs) resulted in creation of new jobs and brought revenue growth in a period of three years, compared to SMEs that were using little technology.

The BCG report found that if more SMEs in India adopted the latest IT tools, there is potential for SME revenue to grow by $56 billion and create 1.1 million new jobs.
Talking about the impact of adopting technology solutions, Chief Technical Officer, Telemart Shopping Network, Manoj Kanjan said, "As our business and customer base grew significantly, we realised the benefits of using Microsoft technologies as it has introduced efficiencies while reducing the manpower costs."
"Our aim is to work with our extensive partner network to help more SMEs across India benefit from the emerging technologies that are shaping businesses" said General Manager-SMS&P, Microsoft India, Meetul Patel.
BCG's research found that over the past three years, IT-enabled SMEs, which BCG refers to as 'Technology leaders', grew their revenues 20 percentage points faster and created twice as many jobs as SMEs that used less technology.
