The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry urged the central bank to keep the micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) sector outside its proposed base rate regime, which will be the new benchmark lending rate for banks from July 1.
By doing so the access of this sector to liquidity will be ensured at relaxed rates and hence maintain the competitiveness of the sector.
ASSOCHAM has also proposed that the present criteria of investment in plant and machinery to determine status of micro, small and medium enterprises be raised to Rs 50 lakh, Rs 7.5 crore and Rs15 crore respectively, for manufacturing sector.
