Indian server market growing on increased IT spend, SMB market: TechSci Research

Server installation benefits enterprises in several ways such as increasing efficiency, providing data backup, reducing operating cost and optimizing energy consumption. Further, the servers make the functioning of an enterprise centralised, scalable and flexible.

 

India’s sever market is expected to register significant growth during the next five years. The country’s server market is largely driven by IT & ITeS and BFSI sectors on account of growing demand for blade and rack servers from these sectors.

 

The implementation of new concepts, such as ERP and CRM in small and medium enterprises, is also contributing to the growth of servers in India.

 

According to a recently published report by TechSci Research, “India Server Market Forecast & Opportunities, 2019”, the country’s server market revenues are projected to grow at a CAGR of around 7.4% during 2014-19. IBM, HP and Dell are the leading server vendors in India. However, in the coming years, players such as Lenovo and Fujitsu are also expected to contribute significantly to the growth of the market.

 

Growing popularity of cloud computing, virtualisation and big data is boosting the server market in India, wherein, blade servers and micro servers are the major drivers. x86 form of servers are also significantly contributing to the growth of the Indian server market as they effectively address the increasing real time data transaction requirements of small and medium enterprises.

 

“Southern region in India accounts for the largest share, in revenue terms, of India’s server market, primarily due to presence of various IT hubs such as Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai. This region is expected to continue its dominance over the next five years on account of rapid IT infrastructure development coupled with growing deployment of cloud services. Also, with the emergence and increasing adoption big data in data centres, the demand for servers market is expected to increase over the next five years,” said Karan Chechi, Research Director, TechSci Research, a research based global management consulting firm.
