Indian Angel Network (IAN), India’s first and Asia’s largest angel network has announced another interesting program for entrepreneurs - Startup Dosti – The Cross-Border Business Plan Competition in partnership with Karachi-London based SEED Ventures and the Washington DC based Atlantic Council. IAN has announced the call for application for the Startup Dosti.
The participants will have the opportunity to earn incubation, mentorship, and investment from the investors associated with the program. The top 5 teams from India and Pakistan will be flown to a luxury mountain resort in Chiang Mai, Thailand, where they will spend a week together and pitch to a cross-border panel of investors for the finals with a chance to enter into on-the-spot negotiations and walk away with financing.
The competition is open to early-stage startups and concept stage startups based in India and Pakistan. The competition is open to startups from across verticals. Startups with an India-Pakistan cross-border element will be preferred, but that is not the criteria for the selection for the program.
The deadline for applications is November 30, 2013. To apply to Startup Dosti, one can visit www.indianangelntework.com/dosti.
Startup Dosti is the product of a partnership between SEED Ventures (Karachi-London), the Indian Angel Network (New Delhi), and the Atlantic Council (Washington, DC). The competition is the flagship project of the Dosti Partnership and will air as the first cross-border “transactional” television show in India and Pakistan.
The partnership itself is a wider regional project connecting established young entrepreneurs and rising business leaders from India, Pakistan, and the Diaspora. The Dosti Partnerships seeks to promote the development of cross-border businesses and improve bilateral relations. The initiative is named “Dosti” after the word for “friendship” in both Hindi and Urdu.
