India is the third major investor in Uganda. This has been said in a report released by the Uganda Investment Authority (UIA). The country has invested $130 million in 43 projects. Keeping this in mind the government of Uganda will support the domestic small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to strengthen trade ties with the major investors.
The other major investors in Uganda are the UK, which tops the list of foreign investors spending $267,403,000 in 20 projects, followed by China with investment worth $213,234,949.
According to the state minister Aston Kajara of Uganada, many jobs have been created in agriculture, food processing, finance, wholesale and retail, catering, accommodation services, water, transport, storage, forestry and fishery. He also said that investors are mostly interested in manufacturing of beverages, sugar, packaging, and food processing for the local market.
