5 ICT startups from India win GREAT Tech Rocketships initiative 2015

5 ICT startups from India win GREAT Tech Rocketships initiative 2015

The GREAT Tech Rocketships initiative 2015 was launched on 20th January 2015 with a global call for ideas and submissions from entrepreneurs who want to change the world, aimed at impressive emerging companies with ideas in India, the UK and around the world that have the potential to be fast growing "Rocketships". 

The winners are ICT startups that fit the 3 Fs criteria- good Founders, strong Fan-base and Funded. The startups are: Congruent Solutions Pvt Ltd from Chennai; FRILP.com from Chennai; Tone Tag from Bengaluru; Talview from Bengaluru; and Agrima Infotech Pvt Ltd from Kochi.

The winners were invited to visit UK as part of a UKTI delegation to present their products at one of the TechHub Demo Nights on 3rd March 2015 in London and also tour Media City in Manchester as a part of the UK programme. The visit enabled the winners to immerse themselves into the local technology ecosystems; meet other entrepreneurs, identify funding options and build product propositions to fit those markets.

To execute the first event of this initiative in record time was possible due to the commendable commitment from a multi-country team comprising of volunteers & individuals from iSPIRT, UKTI and Tech Hub."

Brief profile about the companies:

Congruent Solutions Pvt Ltd: Congruent Solutions Pvt Ltd, is an IT services provider specialising in pension administration industry. Incorporated in 1986, Congruent provides a host of retirement administration and technology development services to various companies in the US, the UK and Singapore including Fortune 500 companies. The firm has two offices in Chennai, a production delivery centre for tech solutions and a global delivery centre where all its back office administration is handled.

FRILP.com: Chennai-Based Frilp was founded by Shanmuga Anandaraman and Senthil Kanthaswamy in February 2013. It is an online platform that helps users discover a shop or service through their friends and people. Frilp (Friend’s Help) is powered by your friends and an advanced algorithm that recommends the shops and services that is best suited for you.

ToneTag: Bangalore-based ToneTag allows easy, frictionless & secure proximity payments using soundwaves (Tone) or NFC (Tag) and enables Contactless experience on any phone.

Talview: Talview (previously known as Interview Master), is a video interview platform based on the concept of asynchronous video interviews. It provides a platform for recruiters to screen candidates effectively bringing in substantial savings in terms of time & efforts related to face to face or telephonic interviews. The venture was co-founded by Sanjoe Tom Jose, K. Subramanian and Jobin Jose. Sanjoe, an alumnus of IIT Bombay, has worked with National Instruments and Larsen & Toubro.

Agrima Infotech Pvt Ltd: Agrima Infotech India Pvt Ltd, a company incubated at Kochi Startup Village. The company was founded by Arun Ravi, along with his friends Anoop Balakrishnan and Nikhil Dharman in 2011. The company mainly focuses on Robotics, Android App Development, Ios App Development, Windows App Development, Web App Development, Artificial Intelligence Algorithm Buildings, Security Consultants, App Store Optimization, Business Consultancy and Risk management.

The initiative is a UKTI activity run in partnership with TechHub and supported by Ispirt with partnership from UKIBC, Indian Angel Network and other Tier I Investors. It was run across 5 cities (Bengaluru, Chennai, Pune, Hyderabad and New Delhi) in the format of a demo night, where the companies who participated/registered were shortlisted and invited to present their idea/technology at the demo Nights in each of the cities. A total of 289 applications were received and 5 companies were announced as winners on 22nd February 2015.
