Increasing popularity of wallpapers

Wall papers are catching up fast among consumers due factors like:

Franchising of wallpapers

Wall paper franchising is still in its nascent stages with the sector being dominated by unorganised players. But considering the growing scope of the industry organised players are also making their presence felt in the industry. Marshalls is first such organised player. Elaborating on the challenges of the industry, Karan Sharma, Director, Marshalls, informs, “The challenge for selling wallpapers is always the mind set of people which has to be overcome. There have been various negative experiences of people due to the unorganised sector which is prevalent in the wallpaper industry.”

With the coming up of organised branded players it can be guaranteed that this market will soon be seeing an upward trend. On this Sharma shared, “Wherever there is a wall, wallpaper has a market. So the potential is huge and the product has the merit to sustain itself and grow.”

Franchise prospects

As this sector has hidden potential, the industry needs to associate itself with dynamic people so as to use its potential to attain huge success in the future. Regarding this Sharma informs, “The pre-condition is that the franchisee has to be personally involved in running the business. The business model gives the franchisee a free hand in marketing with complete concentration on it, whereas, the company provides complete infrastructure in getting the work executed and customer serviced.” He further says, “Our franchise model is one which makes the franchisee concentrate on marketing whereas we provide complete infrastructure support. The investment ranges from Rs 4-12 lakh depending on the franchise model which is offered to the franchisee and one can expect returns within the first year itself.”

Misconceptions about wall papers

Wall paper industry suffers from various misconceptions. Earlier it was a belief among consumers that wall papers have low-resistance and are easily torn or damaged. However, this belief is wrong as Sharma said, “All our products are tested for different qualities like washability, fire resistance, etc as per European and American standards. Moreover we offer all our clients a two year installation warranty against non peeling.”

To conclude it can be said that wall paper franchising business has good growth potential. However, with the entry of more number of organised players, wall paper industry is sure to witness huge success in the near future. So aspiring entrepreneurs what are you waiting for?
