In a candid interview, Mike Hanrahan, MD Maid2Clean Franchise Ltd shares the journey of the brand so far and what lies ahead.

Tell us about your global presence.

Maid2Clean has a presence in the UK, Ireland & Malta presently and is seeking area developer licensees in UK speaking countries such as Canada, India & Australia.

How many centres do you have in London?

Maid2Clean has 15 operations in London.

What are your expansion plans for London and via which business model do you wish to foray in India?

Maid2Clean is 85% saturated in London and will soon have to stop marketing in the UK capital due to having no more territories to sell. For India foray, we hope to train and work with area developer licensees who will sell local franchise territories.

What all qualities are you seeking in your franchisees?

Honesty, integrity and an ability to follow a proven business model that will generate a long term residual income.

What are your expansion plans for India?

We hope to have Area Developer Investors in all tier- I & II cities in the next few years. Our business will revolutionise and professionalise the industry we serve.

What all a franchisor should keep in mind for avoiding brand failure?

Fortunately, we have not encountered failure till date and we put this down to three things, which is

a) The integrity we show in our dealings with franchisees together with our ability to find the right franchisees.

b) Having a residual income business ensures that franchisees want to renew their licenses at the end of their franchise agreements.

c) The quality of the service that the end customer receives.

The Area Developer would be expected to:

  • Purchase a protected, exclusive and generous Area Developer territory license
  • Launch Brand in India
  • Study the Maid2Clean proprietary systems and methods for localization and use in India
  • Localise the Maid2Clean service offering in India and develop the know-how to support local franchisees businesses area wide
  • Exercise the rights to sell Maid2Clean Franchise Licenses throughout the Area Developer Territory.
  • Police the rights to use the Maid2Clean trademarks, service marks and other commercial symbols.
  • Interfacing with Maid2Clean in the UK for ongoing support, training and business development
  • Create brand awareness in India
  • Utilise the company knowledge to create strong margins with repeat customers
  • Use the support and back up of an experienced UK senior management team
  • Create brand awareness to be recognised for quality and a commitment to service.
  • Plug into the online knowledge base of the business developed in the UK to create an India based system

Any particular challenge that is coming your way in finding the right Area Developer Investor, that is delaying the establishment of brand in India?

Finding the right quality of Area Developer investor is challenging. We are looking for people with -

  • Successful background in business
  • Strong ethics
  • Good communicator (English) in verbal and written form
  • Articulate, tenacious & hard working
  • Possesses the financial capability and resources to recruit and support local franchisees
  • Previous experience in developing and managing businesses.
  • The ability and resources to build the Maid2Clean Brand
  • Ability to run a pilot system for the network
  • Ability to work alone and lead a team
  • Sales experience
  • Enthusiasm for and ability to fully participate in the continuous improvement of Maid2Clean’s operational systems
  • Good interpersonal, influencing and social skills
  • Entrepreneurial spirit
  • Accustomed to business environments and dealing with professionals and business people alike
