Ramanjit Kaur (RK): Shed some light on the inception of Exppress Car Wash?

BP Tyagi (BPT): Exppress Car Wash is a unique business concept which is developed by a group called ManMachine around two years back. We have started this innovation from down south and now gradually coming to the other parts of India. The concept is a well designed and a proven business opportunity that ensures the franchisees profitable returns. In about 11-12 months, almost 92 per cent of the total investment is recovered back.

Exppress Car Wash is the prompt and convenient car cleaning service, first of its kind, which serves the purpose of the fast paced society we live in, where people want their car cleaned in the shortest possible time by a professional while they enjoy a cup of coffee and watch their car being cleaned and polished professionally. We use specialised German machines, mild pressure, hot water, steam, for the engine compartment and complete body wash by foam detergents and then sprayed with liquid wax to give the car a dirt free coating.

RK: What made you get started with this unique business?

BPT: Way back in 1985, ManMachine has come into being as a cleaning business which is our core competence. We have not diverted to any other kind of businesses. We started with a contract inning company called ManMachine Works, which is still our parent company. Then we got into machine thing, we got distributorship for three German brands and two Italian brands for equipments. After that another German brand for airport, runway sweeping, and Municipal Corporation road sweeping kind of big machines named Smith. Now, this is the new vertical of the company called ‘Exppress Car Wash’ to fill the gap of providing exquisite car cleaning services which are lacking in the industry at present.

RK: What inspired the company to take the franchise route?

BPT: We have been attending the exhibitions, various business meets and events, from where we got the idea of expanding our presence across the nation through franchising. Though initially, we expanded through our company owned outlets and then took the franchise route to expand rapidly across the nation.

RK: What are the future plans of the company?

BPT: We want to grow exponentially by opening at least 25 outlets via franchising in the near future. Moreover, we are looking at taking our count to 100 in the next three years.

RK: How do you select your franchisees?

BPT: It is a scientific process wherein we check the background of the prospective franchisee, his investment capacities and his common sense. We require our franchises to have an area of around 1,000- 1,200 sq. ft and an investment close to Rs 15 lakh to get started with our franchise business.

RK: What kind of support and training do you provide to your franchisees?

BPT: We provide our franchisees with almost everything a new entrant requires to run and establish a business. Be it the equipments, chemicals, training on machines, specialised jobs and so on, we provide everything to our franchisees. The company helps the franchisees in marketing through it’s our own websites, newspapers, magazines, auto cards. Also we do sms blasts on weekly basis focusing on the area where our franchisees are operational. We also help our franchisees in identifying the right locations, designing of the outlet and so on and also involve franchisees by consulting them and taking their ideas in promoting the franchise business at local levels.
